Chapped lips: 5 natural care products to restore their softness

The cold attacks fragile skin without compromise and all exposed areas suffer. However, it is our lips that bear it the least! Irritated, chapped and cracked… the absence of sebaceous glands to create a protective lipidic film of the skin is cruelly felt. So, to prevent them from ending up dry and dehydrated, the only solution is to redouble our attention and care. But how can we pamper the fine and capricious skin of our chapped lips? Here are a few solutions that are as effective as they are inexpensive to prevent them from becoming dry and prematurely aging!

1) We go for vitamin B and forget our bad habits to better care for our chapped lips!

It’s quite simple: if you don’t eat enough of it, you’re sure to get chapped lips, especially on the corner of your lips. So, if you don’t want to feel pain and drag wounds for several weeks, invite eggs, almonds, whole grains, green or dried vegetables, offal, seafood and other brewer’s yeast! And of course, you don’t ruin your efforts by moistening or biting your chapped lips all day long… In fact, even if this gesture relieves at the time, the dryness becomes worse afterwards. Also, forget about drying lip products such as liquid lipstick. Finally, be careful with citrus fruits that worsen the condition of damaged lips and remember to drink well.

2) We bet on simple products… like honey!

Nourishing, healing and moisturizing at the same time, it makes a good care for chapped lips! It can be applied in a thick layer like a mask to chase away cracks and fissures. You can keep it on your mouth for an hour or even overnight. Nevertheless, remember to avoid licking your lips and prefer to rinse with lukewarm water. Also, you can make a 15-minute honey/olive oil mask for even more nutrition or simply apply pure shea butter.

3) Honey balm and a touch of gourmet orange

If you want a texture more worked out and easier to wear than simple honey, you can try this recipe! To do so, you will need 1/2 teaspoon of acacia honey, but also 1 tablespoon of sweet almond oil, one teaspoon of beeswax and 3 drops of sweet orange essential oil. To start, melt the beeswax and sweet almond oil in a double boiler. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly before incorporating the other ingredients. Then transfer the mixture to a jar away from heat and light. It is a delight on chapped and thirsty lips.

4) The lemon lip balm, but not only!

Here, we will simply mix a dose of vegetable glycerin for its moisturizing properties and a dose of lemon. The latter acts as a natural exfoliant thanks to its AHAs and thus makes the skin softer. In addition, it will help to heal and disinfect the skin. But the big plus of this treatment is that you can do more to care for your dry and chapped hands and heels. After mixing your ingredients in equal parts, apply and then massage thoroughly into the areas to be treated. Then you can reapply throughout the day if you need to! In th

e evening, nothing prevents you from putting some under a pair of cotton gloves or socks for an even more regenerating treatment.

5) The balm against chapped and cracked lips

To make a very repairing balm with a complete action, it will be necessary to melt 5 g of shea butter, 5 g of apricot kernel oil and 2 g of candelilla wax in a water bath. Then, incorporate 2 drops of cistus essential oil and 2 drops of vitamin E. Moreover, if you want to make a tinted care to give you a good look, think of adding 0.25 g of red radish vegetable pigment! Of course, it is optional, but it is always more fun to have a good care with a little bit of color to awaken a complexion tarnished by winter. Finally, pour it into a tube or jar and let it solidify well. Your chapped lips will love it!
